Here at Weeke Farm, we have a colourful selection of 11 different varieties of hybrid point of lay hens (often known as pullets) for sale. Some of these hens will lay blue, dark brown, speckled or white eggs.
We are a family business and we are proud of the personalised service that we offer to all of our customers. We would love to help you get started if you are totally new to looking after chickens and we can provide you with everything you need for your hens to be happy in their new home. We make every effort to have happy hens and satisfied customers.
When you visit, we will be pleased to help you choose your hens and we will catch whichever hens you'd like. If you're in a hurry, we can also catch them 5 minutes before you arrive so they're ready to go. These hens live in a mixed pen in a lovely sunny spot with a large oak tree for shade although their favourite spots are perching under the elderberry bush or sunning themselves in their cob barn. We are more than happy for you to have a look at our "laying flock" in the nextdoor paddock so you can see what they'll look like when they're 2-3 years old
Before coming to visit, please look at the page on collecting your chickens.
Please do telephone us first, don't just turn up, as we are likely to be out working on the farm with no mobile phone reception!
Hybrid hens are perfect for first time chicken keepers because they are so adaptable. They are great for the back garden and smallholding alike. Hybrid chickens are bred from pure breeds to be good layers. You will really enjoy having hybrid chickens as your family pets and the beautiful tasty eggs are a bonus.
Our chickens are raised to high welfare standards, all being fully vaccinated protecting them against Marek's Disease, Newcastle's Disease, Salmonella, Avian Bronchitis, Coccidiosis, Mycoplasma and many more. We pride ourselves on the quality and welfare of our chickens.
Hybrid chickens will usually start laying between 22 and 26 weeks, depending on the time of year and with slight variances depending on the breed. It might take up to 28 weeks for them to come into lay during the autumn or winter. All birds are sexed so you won’t accidentally get a cockerel! We do sell cockerels if you fancy one though.
