Charity Gig with a Grand Raffle and Auction on 18 May 2019
I’m organising a ticketed gig for 200 people to be held in Bow, Devon in Spring 2019 with an incredible Band, Hog Roast and BBQ, Bar, Grand Raffle and Auction in aid of a little-known but fantastic epilepsy charity, The Daisy Garland (registered charity number 1106530).
My 5 year old daughter, Isabelle, was diagnosed at 10 months old with a rare and catastrophic epilepsy called West Syndrome which damaged her brain and caused Global Developmental Delay.
The Daisy Garland has been a lifeline to our whole family in terms of ongoing emotional support and in providing a night time breathing monitor so that we can sleep at night knowing that she is at a much greatly reduced risk of SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy Patients).
The Daisy Garland also provides fully funded dieticians to the NHS so that Isabelle can use the incredible ketogenic diet as a form of treatment alongside three strong anticonvulsant epilepsy drugs. The ketogenic diet is often used as a last resort when medications or surgery do not control seizures as it is extremely strict and complicated. It cannot be undertaken safely without a referral from a paediatric consultant and without the guidance of a trained ketogenic dietician.
Isabelle started the ketogenic diet in December 2017 after eight different medications failed to bring seizure control. She was taking three of these strong medications at the maximum possible dosage and was still having 80-100 seizures each day. Incredibly, since starting the diet, Isabelle’s seizures have reduced to 5-10 a day, her cognition has hugely increased and we have even been able to wean her off some of these strong drugs a little. It’s incredible what she has achieved, against all odds, and we are incredibly proud of her. This would never have been possible without The Daisy Garland providing the dietician to the NHS.
I am holding a grand raffle and auction at the event and I should be extremely grateful if you would kindly provide a raffle or auction prize so that we can raise as much money as possible for The Daisy Garland. I am more than happy to collect any item(s) which you would like to donate or please use the SAE or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
I will list all donated prizes on my website and on my personal and business Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts as advertising for you. If you would like to let me have some business cards to hand out at the event, please do.
All profits from the event will go to The Daisy Garland – please see their attached letter.
I look forward to hearing from you and thank you very much in advance.
Sarah Barker and Isabelle
